Both, Together

I started to create these one-of-a-kind ink-on-paper artworks as a way to explore all of the layers of emotions we experience. And how we simultaneously can be many different things, together: light, dark, spacious, small, expansive, warm, cold, tired, invigorated...

The imprints and layers of experience that shape our perspectives and identities .. our sensory intake is more than just the eye: it is the energy that is stored and collaged in the mind.

We exist through many layers of experiences, emotions, realities, truths, memories, and we can dive in and explore all of the nuances and imprints of these parts of ourselves.

These works have been inspired by the aura migraines that I’ve been living with since I was 12. In creating and recreating some of the color and shape-shifting images I’ve seen behind my eyes, I allow pain and beauty to be held simultaneously in my awareness and in my being.
